Why Take Courses for Creative Fields?

There are millions of courses for the more serious subjects like math's, science, engineering, computers, and more. Now after a lot of years and battles, finally subjects like English, history and political science are being seen as legitimate subjects. But there are still some areas where taking a course is seen as a waste of time. These are the areas that are more entrenched in the creative side, even more than English and all. Areas like photography, interior decoration, event management and more are professional areas, and taking a course for them is deemed unnecessary by many.

However, people are not realizing that taking event management courses or photography courses or even taking admission in a music academy can greatly help one hone their strengths, work on their weaknesses and learn the ropes of the trade, so to speak.

Event Management

This just goes on to show, that these areas are still largely seen as mostly hobbies and not something that can result in a legitimate career. When in fact, it can greatly benefit a person to take course in this field, on a professional level.

There is a silver lining in today's time though, with institutes and schools opening up, which offer specialized advertising courses, image management and more. The advantage of these courses is that first, one gets a certificate proclaiming their abilities in that field. A certificate means that it is proved that the person is ready to join that industry.

Another advantage is that the teachers are most of the trained professionals, who have had a certain amount of experience in the industry. There are also guest speakers and workshops that happen there, that allow students to get a more hands- on experience on how working in that industry would be like.

Thus, there are a lot of advantages when it comes to taking courses for creative fields, that not just sharpen your skills but also help in building a career later on.

Your guide to starting an event management business

Event planning and management is a great career option for all creative minds out there. Not only this, a career in event planning is far from boring as one gets to meet new people, visit different destinations, and the scope and type of work too is never the same. If event managing interests you and you invariably find yourself thinking of ways that could better the event you are attending, then read ahead to know how you can make a start:
1.Education and Training
Without no prior training or experience, it’s unlikely that a person looking forward to event planning would get a project. Hence, it’s better to learn the ropes of the business by enrolling yourself in one of the event management colleges in Delhi NCR like AAFT School of PR and Events
Event management College
2.Get organized
An event management business would require you to juggle multiple tasks together. Hence, it becomes extremely important that you keep your business organized so that there is no confusion. Make sure you have a system in place. However, it’s important to be flexible because as your business will grow and expand, the system too would need to evolve.
3.A separate bank account
Separating your business finance from your personal one is extremely important. Keeping a track of your expenditure becomes especially important in a business like event management and will help avoid financial complications in the future.
4.Lofty yet achievable targets
Just like in any other business, it is as important to have time-based goals in this field. While it’s important that you have lofty targets, you should also ensure that they are achievable. Too high a target can demotivate you even before trying.
5.Tenacity
Every business doesn’t have a great start, and in fact, it’s quite the opposite. As an event planner, you may face immense challenges, and may even make mistakes in the beginning. Do not let them deter you and continue giving your all to your business with a positive mindset. As long as you continue to better yourself, you will definitely succeed.
There are a few courses that give you training in both PR and Events. People pursuing such courses can go on to have public relations careers or a career in events. What will you choose?

Why Timing is Important for Launch Events?

When it comes to event management most of the times, people are under the impression that the person is organizing birthday parties or weddings. That is not the whole reality though. Public Relations- Turning point in my career

I had done my BBA in my graduation and didn’t know much what to do after that. One of my cousins was working in the PR industry and then, and as it is like with every family, I received my share of career sermon from her. It appeared to be a sermon only till the time I understood what exactly she does. It generated interest in me and I started to look for colleges offering Public Relations degree.

AAFT School of Advertising

I happened to join one of the renowned colleges in Delhi which offers a full time Mass communication course of 2 years. I was introduced to world of media in a different light and I must say my decision to get a post graduation degree was worth it. I came to know what exactly a PR firm does and how it has become indispensible for today’s corporate world. The best thing that happened to me during this course was one of the public relations internships form aaft that I landed onto. Arranged by our college itself, this was an experience which made me come close to the world of Public Relations and undoubtedly one of my stepping stones towards my career.

I learnt communication- both written and verbal is an integral part of Public Relations and that improving you communication skills is the best way to stay ahead in this career. Not only is this, staying updated with the world’s news another thing that you have to get habituated to. Handling clients from diverse backgrounds become easy if you do so.

Improving the image of a company or a personality in the eyes of the public can be challenging and exciting, so you are guaranteed of a dynamic job which will surprise you every day with its requirements. So if you are thinking to go for a course that specializes in PR, my vote goes for it!

Public Relations: Lay the foundation

The purpose of public relations, a term I am sure you must have heard of, is to manage a company’s reputation by building as well as maintaining positive relationships with the target audience. Well-established organisations, instead of doing the work in-house, often outsource the work to PR agencies. This allows them to establish an impactful brand image without getting diverted from their core business functions. However, before handing over the responsibility of your PR activities to a third party, there are a few things you could do to lay the foundation for a successful PR plan. Read ahead to know more:

1.Clearly defined target audience
Instead of putting in efforts on a campaign designed for all (which would require a huge budget), it’s wiser to design a campaign that will focus only on a specific group. When the right message reaches the right group, the results too would be concrete. You could expand your strategy to include in more people or target a different group over time, so that nobody gets left out. However, it’s important that you clearly define the target audience each time.

2.Represent your story
The PR professionals having public relations degree from aaft advertising can refine the way your story is represented, but the story has to be yours. The origin of the concept or idea of the business, the journey of the business, its victories etc. are things that should be original and factually correct.

3.Know your competition
It’s also important to be updated about your competitors, their methods of reaching out to the audiences, and the impact of those methods on their relationships with the public.
Building and expanding business takes time and efforts. However, it is also important to get your work noticed, which is why you should hand over the work to a reputed PR agency. My friend did a few public relations internships in PR agencies as well as organisations that did the work in-house. Not only did she get to learn more in the PR agencies, but she also felt that the PR strategies of the agencies were more effective. So, in case you plan on hiring a PR agency, make sure you hire a highly reputed one.

Tools and techniques of advertising

Mass communication takes various forms and with the continuous improvement of technology, the communication with the mass has become easier and the messages have become clearer.

The field of mass communication offers you a wide scope of growth. With a public relations degree, you can work within the organizations and also become a part of a firm or agency that works with multiple client organizations.

Similarly, advertising courses give you an insight of the ad world and tell you how different channels are used for showcasing advertisements effectively. Basically, mass communication is one interesting field which offers you the opportunity to display your creativity and teaches you to use multiple tools of promotion.

Here’s a list of some of the basic tools which you can begin your journey with.

•TV and radio: The invention of these visual and auditory instruments respectively happened a long time back, but their importance still hasn’t faded. People would continue to watch TV and listen to radio till the end of time, and placing ads on these two would always be a wise thing.

•Smart phones: Thanks to the internet, smartphones have become compelling advertisement tools. Smartphones are the most intimate gadgets that we have today and with the popularity of apps, advertising has developed a whole new level.

Social media: Making social pages and profiles on digital media has almost become a trend. It is also one of the least expensive methods of promotion. Constantly updating the business website content and using powerful multimedia to draw the attention of audience are some of the rules related to social media advertising.

•Word of mouth: This one is an intangible and yet one of the most effective tools of advertising. It goes like “Hey! I have tried this new product and it’s so amazing” and don’t underestimate the power of word of mouth in amplifying the number of your audience.

Some silly media-outreach mistakes

Good publicity from a third party always benefits a new organisation. That’s because third party coverage is believed to be unbiased and more useful. But new entrepreneurs in their excitement to get media coverage at times make some unfortunate mistakes that ultimately result in failure of their primary objective. So here are some mistakes you would want to avoid as a new entrepreneur:

1.Getting in touch with the wrong people

By wrong people, I mean those whose scope of work is different and covering your product or service does not come under their work profile. Doing so is just wastage of your time as well as theirs. It is important do your research beforehand so that you send your e-mails only to a few but right people who may actually be able to benefit you.

2.Sending e-mails from a generic e-mail address

Media people already get a lot of junk mails every day. Sending your request or your information about your business through a generic e-mail address only reduces the chances of it being read by the person you are sending it to. A friend of mine who did many public relations internships before she finally settled in one company, told me that e-mails sent with the company’s domain always receive a better response.

3.Sending a copied and pasted message

Sending the same message to different people may save you time, but more often than not, it would fail to get you results. Personalised messages may take more of your time but they will always stand out and may even get you a quicker response.

4.Using incorrect grammar

While you don’t need to be a pro at this, but getting your basic grammar right is the least you can do. Considering that writing is a major portion of journalists’ work, even a silly error can put them off. Make sure you carefully proofread the content before sending out the mail.

And oh, did I mention that my friend who did many PR internships finally pursued one of the good event management courses and then settled in an event management company? I guess not.
